New Balance and Roland—the "culture-defining maker of electronic musical instruments"—recently joined forces on a special edition Tiago Lemos NM808 x Roland shoe collab.
These limited kicks pay homage to the late 90s and are available in a pretty clean black colorway. Like basically every skate shoe, they're designed for both style and performance, they come with a reinforced toecap, internal foam pods for a secure fit, and foot-locking straps for good measure. "The NM808 seamlessly blends the innovative style of skate legend Tiago Lemos with New Balance's timeless aesthetic," Roland mentions in a recent press release. "Reflecting the significant influence that skate culture and hip-hop have had on fashion trends over the years."
Does the Collab Feature Any Other Items?
Absolutely! As an added bonus to the release of the collab kicks, Roland and New Balance have also teamed up on a limited capsule of apparel including hoodies, t-shirts, and hats. If you're a fan of Roland and New Balance, consider yourself dipped from head-to-toe!
When Will the Gear Be Available?
The Tiago Lemos NM808 x Roland kicks are available now on the New Balance website, as well as select New Balance stores worldwide. Additionally, you can find the shoes and the collection in Roland's retail store in Tokyo ( I mean... if you happen to be in Tokyo ), or through Roland Lifestyle's web store on 808 Day, August 8th.
What is 808 Day?
Roland dropped the TR-808 (often referred to as just “the 808”) in 1980 and has since "shaped the creation of various music genres." But the TR-808 actually became so widely praised over the years that they (and loyal fans and enthusiasts) actually dubbed August 8th as "808 Day" around the globe each year. So I guess linking up with with New Balance and Tiago on the NM808 silhouette actually makes all the sense in the world, right?
