One of the things I’ve always loved (and found fascinating) about skateboarding is that even the heaviest pros in the game still fan out over other top-tier skaters. It’s like the wide-eyed, eager kid in all of us never really goes away when it comes to skating. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

On that note, hearing Paul Rodriguez and PJ Ladd talking about meeting Tom Penny for the first time (and the impact it made on both their lives) really puts things into perspective. Let's be honest, though—Penny is a GOAT. We'd all feel the same way. Take a look:

PJ Ladd seems to be out in the mix a bit more these days. The 'Silence is Golden' skateboarder has been quietly killing it for as long as I can remember and his cool, calm demeanor has always been admirable. As far as pros who simply let their skating do the talking, PJ has always been high up on that list.

These two go way back, which makes this conversation super fun and fascinating. We're getting a proper fly-on-the-wall experience here. This might just be a small slice of the full interview, but it still hits hard. Story swapping between legends like this will never get old, if you ask me. They’ve traveled the world, seen it all, done it all—and then some. Of course they have stories for days!

Paul was still making a name for himself back then, while Penny was already a living legend in the skate world. I can fully relate to the ‘staring at him but trying not to look like I’m staring’ strategy. It’s just funny to think how many kids have probably done the same thing to P-Rod over the years.

Hey, they might be legends, they might be legends in the making ...but our favorite skaters will always hold a special place in our hearts. GOATS will be GOATS.
