This Small City in North Carolina was Named One of the Best Places to Live in America

    2024-03-10

From The Blue Ridge Parkway to The Outer Banks, the state of North Carolina is home to some of the most exciting attractions and cities in the country. But anyone who’s enjoyed a quiet afternoon walking through a charming downtown or frequenting a mellow farmers' market on the weekend knows that the Tar Heel State's smaller communities are just as appealing in their own way.

24/7 Wall St. has created a weighted index of over two dozen metrics to identify the best place to live in each state. It considered all boroughs, census-designated areas, cities, towns, and villages with at least 8,000 residents.

So where is the best place to live in the state of North Carolina? According to 24/7 Wall St., that would be Morrisville.

Morrisville is a small city of 22,600 residents located within North Carolina's "research triangle" between the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill which are all home to major scientific research universities. In recent years, it has received recognition for being one of the best suburbs in the state for young professionals and the best place in the state to raise a family.

If you live in Morrisville, chances are you have at least a bachelor's degree. Those with college degrees are more qualified for jobs that tend to have higher salaries. In Morrisville, the median household income is $92,769 a year.

Like many wealthy well-educated areas, Morrisville is also an extremely safe place to live with a low violent crime rate well under the median average.

Things like job opportunities, quality of life, and community make a place like Morrisville an incredible option when considering a town to move to and people have been moving here in record numbers. Over the past 5 years, the town has seen a 30.5% population increase making it one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the nation.
