North Carolina's incredible coastline and waterfront communities make for the perfect getaway any time of year yet sometimes, during the summer months, large crowds, traffic, and noise can put somewhat of a damper on what's supposed to be a relaxing beach day. With that in mind, we’ve decided to write up an article highlighting one of the best-secluded beaches in the state.

Located out in the Outer Banks in the village of Ocracoke is a quiet beach most people don't know about.

If you love scenic hikes, you're going to absolutely love this short .8-mile trek through the beautiful area of Ocracoke which can be accessed just a few blocks east of the lighthouse.

The beach trail at Springer's Point Nature Preserve begins in a forest and eventually passes by large trees like Spanish oaks.

As you get closer to the beach, you'll notice tiny glimpses of the Pamlico Sound complete with marine wildlife (particularly birds). The entirety of this hike is mostly flat and sandy and can be completed by just about anyone including younger kids.

You'll also find plenty of educational signs along the hike that detail the history and wildlife of the area, a great opportunity to stop and soak in the relaxing atmosphere as you make your way to your final destination: the beach.

The beach here is quaint and features calm waves and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your afternoon.
