Located in the northeastern corner of the state along the border of Ohio and Michigan, Pokagon was established in the 1920s and is one of the oldest state parks in the state. It contains over 1,000 acres of land.

The park is centered around 2 gorgeous lakes known as Snow Lake and Lake James. They feature crystal clear waters where you can boat, kayak, fish, and swim. In the spring and summer months, you'll notice the surface covered in lily pads and flowers.

The grounds features over 200 campsites including picturesque log cabins. Be sure to reserve a spot with plenty of time ahead as this can become a popular destination in the summer months.

By far one of the prettiest features of the park is the Potawatomi Inn. A beautiful historic lodge opened in 1927 that contains restaurants, a swimming pool, an outdoor deck, and sweeping views of the lake. Perfect for those who aren't as outdoorsy or interested in the camping aspect.

Open year-round, Pokagon is equally as magical in the winter where you can partake in an exciting toboggan sled ride that includes a 30-foot tower and 90-foot vertical drop.

In the fall and spring months visitors can take in the amazing fall foliage or explore the cherry blossom trees along the trails.

The hiking trails at Pokagon range from easy to moderate and are all under 3 miles long. They'll take you past shady tree paths, over marshlands, and through picturesque wooden bridges.

Trail 3 provides for one of the most interesting hikes within the park. This trail will take you past a variety of different landscapes from hardwood forests to sand hills. The hike concludes with a stunning panoramic view of the park and leads back to Potawatomi Inn.

Wildlife at Pokagon includes beavers, turtles, snakes, and tons of different bird species from geese to owls.
