This Hidden Ohio Beach is One of the Best in the Entire State

Ohio is actually home to hundreds of beaches and while we all have our favorites, finding one that meets all our expectations can actually be quite hard. From clean facilities, to clear water and white sand, there are a few beaches in Ohio that truly go above and beyond your average beach

While Geneva State and Kelleys Island are the most popular, they're usually the loudest and most crowded as well, and when it comes to a relaxing day in the sun, no one wants to be distracted or annoyed by other beachgoers.

Hidden behind a row of cottages you'll find Nickel Plate Beach, a quiet and beautiful beach located in the small town of Huron along Lake Erie.

Nickel Plate is often overlooked by tourists and locals alike but it is by far one of the best beaches in the state, keep reading to find out why.

The water here mimics that of the real ocean except it's much more clear than the water you'll find on the East Coast. The current is mostly calm but can definitely get a bit more choppy depending on the day you visit. Either way, the water here is perfect for those of all ages and not too deep, just be aware lifeguards are not on duty.

Nickel Plate also features a volleyball net, playground, picnic facilities, and a convenient little store called The Paddle Shack that sells everything from snacks to paddle boards, kayaks, and beach chairs, just in case you forget anything at home.

Another quirky feature of Nickel Plate is the photo opportunities. If you're feeling silly be sure to snap a pic on the giant blue beach chair located by the entrance. There's also a really cool sign that reads Lake Erie Love so you can represent your state and love for the beach on social media.
