TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (WFLA) — People visiting Treasure Island’s Sunset Beach will soon need to pay for parking.

Leaders said parking on the side streets of Sunset Beach will no longer be free. Visitors will be charged $5 per hour starting July 29. Visitors can use the ParkMobile app to pay for parking.

The city said it wants to “encourage visitors to use city parking lots first and ensure public safety.” Visitors can park in city parking lots, which offer a lower hourly rate of $3.75. These lots can be found online.

Officials said visitors will need to pay attention to signage in the area. Some side streets allow parking on both sides of the street every day, while others only allow parking on one side of the street on weekends and holidays.

Residents can purchase a parking pass for $45 per year.

If you do not pay the parking fee, you could be fined $60 per violation.
