Ohio Lawmakers Accused of Employing Deceptive Tactics to Eliminate Marijuana Legalization Initiative

    2023-12-07

The people spoke out loud and clear on November 7 about some very important topics. Both Issue 1 and Issue 2 passed by large margins of 14 points, which disappointed Republican lawmakers in this state. They have since promised to work hard to weaken or even reverse the results.

Despite what the governor, some lawmakers, and others who apparently can't accept defeat in a free and fair election say, Ohio voters were involved and knew exactly what they were voting for. They have shown this in not one but two elections this year, even though the legislature tried many times to sneakily and dishonestly overturn their will and reduce their influence in politics altogether.

I think you should talk to your supposed officials about this and let them know how you feel, but they have made it very clear through their actions that they don't care what you think. No matter what your opinion is on these topics, you can't deny that the will of the people should be respected and given the most weight.

    Ohio Marijuana Law

The people of Ohio chose to legalize marijuana the way it was written on the ballot, not in a way that Republicans tried to change it. It's not okay for them to ignore what Ohio people want and make a strict law that the GOP came up with. We chose what was on the ticket. Hand it over.

At the state capital, things don't look clear. There have been votes on gerrymandering (twice), minority rule, abortion, and marijuana where "The People" strongly disagreed with the candidates who were chosen to represent "The People."

Thomas Suddes: Lawmakers need a test of their knowledge of the Constitution. Plan to take out the power of proof of abortion. Even though they lost, "the people" are still trying to get around what "the people" want when it comes to women's reproductive rights and pot. It looks like "the people" have chosen once more that the idea of "the people" is a goal that can be reached as long as it fits with "the people's" view.

Most of us think that everyone should be able to live in peace, no matter how different we are. The way we handle people who are looking for refuge should be fair, respect human rights, and be open to the public. Upholding people's basic rights to safety and fairness is what it means to do what's right.

When it comes to human rights, we can't turn it into a party fight. Making the world a safer place is important to all of us, so we need to look at each person's asylum case properly in a safe place and quickly bring people who need asylum into our communities. Rather than being about right or left, this is just about right and wrong.
