Philip Frey Offers Annual Plein-Air Painting Retreat at Schoodic Institute
In partnership with the Schoodic Institute, artist Philip Frey will offer his popular annual plein-air painting retreat. Dedicated painters will work on location at the ever-inspiring Schoodic Institute (which is part of Acadia National Park), surrounded by working fishing harbors and the Schoodic peninsula. Frey will present pivotal lessons designed to deepen students’ painting experience, knowledge, and confidence. Students will learn to improve their paintings by simplifying and organizing what one sees through sketching, the use of limited color palettes, as well as understanding the principles of masterful compositions used by the Old Masters. There will be helpful one-on-one instruction, lively demos, and group critiques. Daily social hours will offer an opportunity to connect with fellow artists. This workshop is a well-balanced blend of hands-on painting and time to relax and enjoy the exhilarating Maine coast.
