Penobscot Narrows Bridge suicide prevention barrier project delayed
PROSPECT -- A project to build suicide prevention barriers along the Penobscot Narrows bridge has been delayed. Paul Merrill with the Maine Department of Transportation says they devised a plan to begin construction on the barriers after finishing a lighting project on the bridge. That lighting project is now complete. However, due to the design of the barrier project, engineers have determined they need to perform a wind tunnel test with digital and physical models to ensure the overall safety of the bridge.

BAR HARBOR — An overdue kayaker was found in the waters of Bar Harbor on Saturday night. According to the Coast Guard, Dennis Webber, 73, left his home in Bar Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and when he had not returned by 8 p.m. was reported overdue to the Bar Harbor Police Department.
