Parking, many years later
Many Islander readers may not recognize the name Ted Grindle. Others will remember him fondly as the state police officer who only needed to walk into a bar to put a quick end to a brawl. Ted was a large man, but I suspect that his power to quell disturbance derived more from the respect he commanded than from his physical size. I first met Ted in 1991 when I began to date his daughter Joyce, and because of our mutual love of Bar Harbor, nature and photography we hit it off immediately.
