Ellsworth School Budget Passes and Special Children’s Referendum Results
Ellsworth voters passed the school budget for the 2024-25 year at the June 11th election. The vote to pass was 615 yes to 381 no. One of the neat things that the Toni Dyer, the Ellsworth City Clerk does during elections, is give children a special ballot that they can fill in while their parent(s) are voting.

Maine woman critically injured in fiery crash
A 38-year-old Maine woman was critically injured Tuesday morning when she lost control of the car she was driving and struck a telephone pole, causing the car to catch fire. State police said they responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Avenue Road in Levant around 9:30 a.m. Their initial investigation indicates that Jennifer Archie, of Bar Harbor, was driving westbound when she lost control of her 2010 Toyota Corolla.

Island Explorer to start 24th season June 23
MOUNT DESERT ISLAND — The Island Explorer will begin its full summer schedule on June 23, transporting residents and visitors fare-free around Mount Desert Island. As a result of the continued closure of portions of the Seawall Road, both the number 11 (Tremont) and number 7 (Southwest Harbor) bus routes will be affected. Namely, the stretch between the Manset town dock and the Seawall Motel will not be covered. The buses will instead turn around at the town dock. There will, however, still be transportation provided to Seawall Campground and stops throughout Bass Harbor.
