    Trenton police officer, K-9 injured in crash, authorities say

    PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A police officer and K-9 were injured in a crash in Trenton on Thursday.

    The crash happened at Second and Bridge Streets, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora said in a news release.

    Gusciora said an unlicensed driver sped through a stop sign and T-boned the officer's vehicle. The officer was en route to assist another officer responding to a reports of a man with a gun.

    Both vehicles were sent into a residential building after the crash.

    The officer had a head injury but was hospitalized in stable condition. The K-9 had facial lacerations but was treated and released from a veterinary hospital, Gusciora said. The driver of the other vehicle was also listed in stable condition.

    The building on the corner that was hit by the police car had visible damage. Another damaged SUV was also visible at the scene.

    The Red Cross is assisting a resident displaced at the building.

    Police later found a group juveniles in possession of airsoft guns, which were confiscated, Gusciora said.
