How Bucknell selected a new dining vendor after more than 20 years
It had been more than 20 years since Bucknell University went on the hunt for a new foodservice partner. But, with its contract with Parkhurst Dining coming to a close, the Lewisburg, Pennsylvania-based private school with nearly 4,000 undergraduate students put out a request for proposals for a new dining vendor and began discussing with stakeholders (students, faculty, staff and administrators) their priorities for on-campus dining.

Plymouth man charged with abandoning dog in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE — A Plymouth man is facing felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after he allegedly abandoned a dog in Wilkes-Barre. Dennis W. Meekins, 41, last known address as Willow Street, was identified by multiple surveillance cameras as the man who left a dog caged inside a kennel on a sidewalk in front of a house on Loomis Street on July 12, according to court records.

Bloomsburg, Pa. — The Bloomsburg Police Department is asking for help to identify an individual suspected to be connected to a break-in. The man is suspected of a break-in at the Strong Spas warehouse in the 500 block of W. 11th St. that took place on Sunday, July 14. ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Police in Allentown say they arrested a man and seized suspected fentanyl and ecstasy pills after an investigation. Tyrone Fowler, 50, of Philadelphia, faces charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department.

A push to ban smoking inside Pennsylvania casinos is underway in Harrisburg. Democrat State Representative Dan Frankel joined some Pittsburgh casino workers for a rally on the North Shore yesterday as they advocate in favor of an amendment to the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act to end tobacco use at their jobs. Frankel is a co-sponsor of the amendment, saying it is meant to close loopholes in the 2008 law. Rivers Casino currently has designated smoking and non-smoking sections on the gaming floor, while restaurants and some other areas are smoke-free.
