Plymouth man charged with abandoning dog in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE — A Plymouth man is facing felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after he allegedly abandoned a dog in Wilkes-Barre. Dennis W. Meekins, 41, last known address as Willow Street, was identified by multiple surveillance cameras as the man who left a dog caged inside a kennel on a sidewalk in front of a house on Loomis Street on July 12, according to court records.
Bloomsburg PD: Attempt to identify
Bloomsburg, Pa. — The Bloomsburg Police Department is asking for help to identify an individual suspected to be connected to a break-in. The man is suspected of a break-in at the Strong Spas warehouse in the 500 block of W. 11th St. that took place on Sunday, July 14. Police are asking for the public's help to identify the man and vehicle in the photos. ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Police in Allentown say they arrested a man and seized suspected fentanyl and ecstasy pills after an investigation. Tyrone Fowler, 50, of Philadelphia, faces charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department.

A push to ban smoking inside Pennsylvania casinos is underway in Harrisburg. Democrat State Representative Dan Frankel joined some Pittsburgh casino workers for a rally on the North Shore yesterday as they advocate in favor of an amendment to the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act to end tobacco use at their jobs. Frankel is a co-sponsor of the amendment, saying it is meant to close loopholes in the 2008 law. Rivers Casino currently has designated smoking and non-smoking sections on the gaming floor, while restaurants and some other areas are smoke-free.
