Two people were killed Saturday night in a three-vehicle accident in Wayne County.

William A. McBurney, 22, of Canaan Township and Kylee M. Pendell, 21, of Hawley were pronounced dead at the scene, Wayne County Coroner Edward R. Howell said in a news release.

McBurney was driving a Mitsubishi sedan. Pendell was a passenger in a Volkswagen sedan. Neither wore a seatbelt.

The crash happened around 8:43 p.m. near the intersection of Wanoka Road and Lake Ariel Highway/Route 191 in Cherry Ridge Township, Howell said. The release did not say how the crash occurred.

Howell responded to the scene along with Chief Deputy Coroner Mark M. James and Coroner Emeritus/Deputy Coroner Carol R. Lienert.
