Hobby Lobby is planning to open its second location in Raleigh. <\p> The craft giant has leased 55,688 square feet at a former Bed Bath & Beyond at 9521 Strickland Road in the Six Forks Station shopping center.<\p>
Youngsville land sells for millions to Georgia homebuilder
Land purchases are heating up in the Triangle area's fastest-growing county as a Georgia homebuilder just paid millions for property north of Raleigh. <\p> Atlanta-based Grand Oak Builders paid $2.74 million for 14.5 acres off Holden Road near downtown Youngsville, according to Franklin County deed records. The purchase is roughly $190,000 per acre.<\p>
Soaring demand fuels $4 billion JoCo factory
Novo Nordisk's latest expansion in North Carolina is years in the making, but the insatiable demand for its weight-loss and diabetes drugs is fueling the a much larger project than initially planned. <\p> The new expansion marks its largest ever investment in the state. Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO) announced Monday plans to invest $4.1 billion in a new facility that will bring 1.4 million square feet of production space online, doubling the combined square footage of the company's existing three facilities in Clayton and Durham. <\p>

A nursing home in Raleigh that in the past faced scrutiny from regulators has been sold for close to $13 million.<\p> Universal Health Care North Raleigh was recently sold to Medical Facilities of America (MFA) for $12.8 million, according to Wake County deed records. MFA, based in Virginia, provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation care at 40 locations across Virginia and North Carolina.<\p>

Raleigh's Dogwood State Bank has the all-clear to complete a deal that will make it a $2 billon institution. <\p> Dogwood and Community First Bancorporation of South Carolina have received all the required regulatory approvals to finalize their merger, which was announced earlier this year. <\p>
D.R. Horton subsidiary grabs 40 acres in Harnett County
A majority-owned subsidiary of the nation's largest homebuilder has paid seven figures for dozens of acres in one of North Carolina's hottest counties in terms of growth.<\p> An LLC tied to Texas-based residential development company Forestar Group (NYSE: FOR) purchased roughly 40 acres in Harnett County earlier this month for more than $1.1 million, according to deed records. The land is located off Bethel Baptist Road near North Carolina state highway 210 and has a Spring Lake address.<\p>
Popular cheese shop expanding in Carrboro
The owners of a cheese shop in Carrboro are upgrading to a new location. <\p> Michelle and Stevie Webb founded The Cheese Shop in 2022, opening in an 80-square-foot space in downtown Carrboro's Glasshalfull. This fall, the Webbs are gearing up to open their newest location, called Wedgewood Cheese Bar, in a new 2,000-square-foot space at 100 Brewer Lane.<\p>

A biopharmaceutical company in Research Triangle Park has failed to hit its target in a pivotal, late-stage trial and is signaling more layoffs ahead.<\p> G1 Therapeutics (Nasdaq: GTHX) announced Monday that a phase 3 trial evaluating the drug trilaciclib in patients with metastatic triple negative breast cancer missed its primary endpoint of overall survival. <\p>

Guthrie’s is planning a new restaurant in midtown Raleigh in a busy retail corridor, potentially the first of many locations as the Alabama chain plans its expansion into North and South Carolina. <\p> The new restaurant will be at 2907 Wake Forest Road, the former home of Raleigh Auto Spa across from the Midtown East shopping center anchored by Wegmans.
