Steel Curtain member L.C. Greenwood is among six Pittsburgh Steelers players nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s seniors class for 2025.

Greenwood is joined by safety Mike Wagner, running back Byron “Whizzer” White, linebacker Andy Russell, defensive lineman Eugene “Big Daddy” Lipscomb and kicker Norm Johnson. They are among 183 former players under consideration.

Joe Greene is the only member of the Steel Curtain front four inducted into the Hall of Fame. Greenwood, though, held the franchise career sacks record (78) when he retired. Sacks were not an official statistic during Greenwood’s playing career (1969-81).

Greenwood, who died in 2013, was a two-time first-team All-Pro selection and was named to the Pro Bowl six times.

A Seniors Screening Committee, which is new to the Hall of Fame process this year, will reduce the number of candidates to 50 over the next few weeks, the Hall of Fame said in a press release.

The Seniors committee is for players whose careers ended prior to the 2000 season.
