Steelers injury report: Russell Wilson, Roman Wilson, Cory Trice limited at practice

As coach Mike Tomlin had said would happen the day prior, Russell Wilson did not go through a full day’s work of practice Wednesday. The Pittsburgh Steelers erstwhile starting quarterback was listed as a limited participant on the injury report.

Wilson continues to nurse a calf injury, ceding first-team play to Justin Fields. The Steelers practice twice more before their Week 2 game at the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

It is possible — though perhaps not likely — they will have receiver Roman Wilson available for that game after the rookie third-round pick by all indications ramped up his practice work Wednesday.

Roman Wilson missed what would have been his NFL debut last week as he continues to heal from an ankle injury suffered early during training camp. Wilson was listed as a limited practice participant all of last week, too.

“It was good,” Roman Wilson said of Wednesday’s practice. “Just another opportunity to go out there and work. I’ve got another opportunity (Thursday), and that’s what I am focused on so it will be good.”

Wilson said he “definitely” would be ready to play in his first NFL game Sunday, should he be deemed healthy enough to be in uniform. But he also said he will “take (the week) as it comes” in regards to his availability.

“It’s up to the coaches,” Wilson said.

No. 3 outside cornerback Cory Trice also was listed as limited, three days after entering NFL concussion protocol as the result of absorbing a hit during the Steelers’ win at the Atlanta Falcons.

Veteran defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi was given a “limited” destination because of what the team termed a knee injury.

Starting offensive linemen Dan Moore Jr. (ankle) and Isaac Seumalo (pectoral) did not practice.
