Sold-out shows from Jelly Roll, Billie Eilish, Lainey Wilson highlight Pittsburgh's top October concerts

The temperatures may be dropping as fall approaches, but the concert season in Pittsburgh is still heating up in October, with three sold-out arena shows.

Here’s a look at October’s top concerts for the Pittsburgh area:

Top shows

Oct. 5: Jelly Roll, Warren Zeiders, Alexandra Kay at PPG Paints Arena

Jelly Roll, the Grammy nominated country star, will bring his Beautifully Broken tour to Pittsburgh for a sold-out show. The tour is named after his upcoming new album, “Beautifully Broken,” which will be released Oct. 11.

With songs about substance abuse, mental health and finding redemption, Jelly Roll is frequently stopped by fans who want to share their stories with him. And he’s quite OK with that.

“Nah, I feel honored that I have a purpose,” he told The New York Times. “I spent so much of my life being counterproductive to society that to be in a place where I’m able to help people has completely changed my mentality.”

Oct. 13: Billie Eilish, Nat & Alex Wolff at PPG Paints Arena

Pop singer Billie Eilish is heading to Pittsburgh on her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which has sold out all but one show nationally including multiple dates in some cities.

The 22-year-old singer of “Bad Guy” and “Happier Than Ever” released her latest album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” in May.

“I can’t believe people are so emotional about me,” she told highsnobiety.com after finishing a tour in Australia. “I’m not a crier, but I felt it at my last show. I just looked at (my fans) and cried.”

Oct. 26: Lainey Wilson, Ian Munsick, Zach Top at Petersen Events Center

Lainey Wilson’s Country’s Cool Again tour hits Pittsburgh for a sold-out show, and could there be a Duck sighting?

Wilson, who has been dating former Steelers quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges for several years, released her “Whirlwind” album Aug. 23.

“The word that I could use to describe the last couple of years is whirlwind,” she told the Associated Press. “I feel like my life has changed a whole lot. But I still feel like the same old girl trying to keep one foot on the ground.”

Oct. 21: Osees, Iguana Death Cult at Spirit Hall

The prolific garage rock band, fronted by John Dwyer, released its most recent album, “Sorcs 80,” in August.

Oct. 22: BEAT at the Palace Theatre

The supergroup featuring guitarist Stevi Vai and drummer Danny Carey (Tool) alongside former King Crimson members Adrian Belew and Tony Levin will reinterpret three King Crimson albums from the 1980s: “Discipline,” “Beat” and “Three of a Perfect Pair.”

Oct. 29: MJ Lenderman & the Wind, Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band at Thunderbird Music Hall

The fast-rising singer-songwriter, who made his late-night TV debut Sept. 25 on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” is touring in support of his fourth album, “Manning Fireworks.”
