A world-renowned pianist who grew up in Tri-Cities is returning for a charity concert later this month. The Sept. 21 show at the Three Rivers Convention Center is the first West Coast stop on his 2024-25 tour.

Jim-Isaac Chua is a Richland High School graduate who went on to become an award-winning pianist performing across the globe. This month, he’ll perform at the convention center in order to raise money for Grace Clinic, at the Amazing Grace Benefit Concert .

    Who is Jim-Isaac Chua?

The pianist’s first appearance at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City was in 2009, when he was still a student at Richland High School.

He first moved to Richland as a child, coming with his family from the Philippines. Chua started piano lessons at eight years old.

Since leaving Tri-Cities, he’s graduated from multiple prestigious music schools, won international awards and performed in many countries. These days, he lives in Poland with his wife when he’s not traveling the world performing.

Chua has a history of doing charity performances, including in Spokane, Oregon and outside of the Pacific Northwest.

    About Grace Clinic in Kennewick

The only free clinic in Tri-Cities, Grace Clinic is a community-funded service offering health care to uninsured adults.

The medical clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. For counseling or dental care, patients must call ahead for new patient screening or to make an appointment.

The clinic was founded in 2002 by two local physicians, aimed at providing medical care services to low-income and uninsured residents of Benton and Franklin counties. The operation has expanded since then, bringing in over 110,000 patient visits.

The Washington Insurance Commissioner’s estimates suggest there are over 27,000 uninsured people in the Tri-Cities community. While the clinic has religious roots, its primary goal is filling gaps in the local healthcare system to benefit under-served members of our community.

“We are thrilled that Jim-Isaac is performing to benefit Grace Clinic,” stated executive director Avonte Jackson in an email to the Herald . “He and his family have a special connection with Clinic co-founder Dr. Cheryl Snyder and a deep understanding of the vital need for access to high-quality healthcare.”
