    Tri-Cities motorcyclist seriously injured when he crashed into the back of a car on I-82

    A Pasco man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 82 , according to the Washington State Patrol.

    Edward F. Ruiz, 25, of Pasco, was driving south on a Honda motorcycle just before the Umatilla bridge over the Columbia River a little after 3 p.m. Friday, according to the WSP.

    His motorcycle hit the back of a Volkswagen Jetta ahead of him driven by Jonathan Alvarado, 19, of Hermiston, Ore., according to the WSP.

    Ruiz was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he was in stable condition Saturday, according to the hospital.

    Alvarado was not hurt.

    Drugs or alcohol did not contribute to the crash, according to the WSP. Charges against Ruiz are pending.

    It was actually on the bridge. Not sure what good charges would do as the bike needs front end repair he rear ended the car. I’d say he’s punished enough. Car had little to no damage.
