A Prosser teen was killed in a gang-motivated shooting in the middle of the afternoon in a Lower Yakima Valley neighborhood.

Macario Ramales, 17, was riding in a white Chevy Malibu about 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 12 when a group of teens opened fire on the car, say investigators.

Ramales was a student and a lifelong Prosser resident, according to a death notice from Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.

He was shot in the head and left at Sunnyside Astria Hospital minutes later, according to court documents filed in Yakima County Superior Court.

He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland but died two days after he was shot.

The teens accused in the shooting are Ramon Enrique Abadias, 19, and three 17-year-olds. They are Maximilliano Acevedo, Luis Angel Acevedo-Lupercio and Iker Javier Delgado-Bustamante.

All were arrested after a high-speed chase in Sunnyside and are charged as adults with second-degree murder in Yakima County Superior Court.

Last Thursday, Abidas was in the backseat of a black BMW when the Malibu pulled up to the car and the windows rolled down and people in the Malibu “threw up gang signs,” court documents said.

Bustamante allegedly began firing first and Abidas followed, with the other teens joining in, said the documents.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Rouse and Beckner roads outside the Sunnyside city limits. Several people, including a group of children, saw teens in a black BMW firing at the whilte Chevy Malibu, said investigators.

Several of the houses and a car the area were hit with gunfire.

Acevedo was allegedly driving the car, Delgado-Bustamante in the passenger seat and two other teens were in the back, court documents said. All of the suspects in the BMW were allegedly armed.

Police found 9mm and 10mm shell casings in the area.

Sunnyside police spotted the BMW in Sunnyside and tried to stop, but the driver tried to flee. The chase reached 100 mph before finally ending in a cornfield. Three people ran from the car, but police were able to catch them.

Abidas is being held in the Yakima County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail and the other three are in the Yakima County Juveniles Justice Center in lieu of $1 million bail each.
