Tri-Cities’ only LGBTQ+ nightclub is sold. What the new owners say about its future

The Tri-Cities LGBTQ+ community was rocked in late August with the news that it’d be losing the only venue dedicated to the community within 100 miles.

The business and liquor licenses for the Out and About queer nightclub in Pasco were set to expire at the end of August. Just before the deadline, news circulated about a potential new owner, who intended to strip the space of its LGBTQ+ focus.

After some backlash, the potential buyer reportedly backed out of deals to buy the venue, and the local LGTBQ+ community watched the doors close on its only dedicated space.

But now, new buyers have announced on social media plans to keep Out and About a queer-friendly space, with plans to reopen in a few months.

Franklin County property records show the building in downtown Pasco was purchased by Nopaleros Real Estate LLC on Sept. 12 for $375,000.

The previously owners, The Guys LLC, had paid $190,000 in 2023.

Both business and liquor permits are currently pending, according to Washington state Department of Revenue records.

The Out and About website has been updated, introducing the new owners are a gay and Latino couple. Pedro Perez and his husband, Fer, assured Tri-Cities they’re committed to maintaining the venue’s dedication to the LGBTQ+ community.

“This space carries a rich history, built by those who came before us, who fought for the right to gather, celebrate, and thrive openly,” said the new ownership announcement posted on the website Sept. 23.

“We honor their legacy and their struggles that helped create this sanctuary, and it is with deep gratitude that we carry the torch to keep it alive.”

The few months between reopening will be used to get business affairs in order and update the space.

“Together, we will ensure that this space remains a diverse and vibrant hub where everyone can feel seen, heard, and embraced for years to come,” said the announcement.

Promises of a grand reopening are mentioned on the updated website as well. The Out and About Facebook page is back after going private before the establishment’s licenses expired.

It is unclear at this time whether the previous staff at Out and About will be rehired by the new ownership.

Well I never heard of the place, so it's good that I now know and will never ever go there.
