Jacob’s Radar: Hottest day of 2024!
We have been forecasting this late August heat for about a week now, but it even out performed my expectations. Kansas City International Airport hit a high temperature of 99 degrees on Sunday, which officially made it the hottest day of 2024 so far. Our previous hottest day this year was June 24, when KCI hit a high temperature of 98 degrees. The only day that could still beat it is Monday. After that, near triple digit temperatures become less likely as we trek into September.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The intense heat continues through tomorrow with Heat Advisories in place through 8 p.m. Monday. The heat index will reach the triple digits with actual temperatures flirting with the triple digits in several locations. The heat continues as the 90s are forecasted through Thursday. A first warn is in place Tuesday as showers and storms roll through the area. Some storms could be on the strong to severe side. By Thursday, another first warn is in place as a front moves through bringing showers and storms for the evening hours. Right now, there is not a severe risk associated with this system. Behind the front temperatures dive into the 80s and even the 70s are possible by Sunday! The rain chance continues through the weekend, but no day looks like a washout.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Those in the Kansas City metro have been warned to schedule outdoor activities for the morning or evening as an Ozone Alert has been issued. The Mid-America Regional Council has announced that its Air Quality Program has issued an orange ozone Action Alert for Monday, Aug. 26.
