California Gov. Gavin Newsom remains a strong supporter of both Pres. Joby Aviation takes 523-mile hydrogen-electric flight above Monterey County
MARINA – In June, Joby Aviation successfully completed a 523-mile flight above Marina of its first-of-its-kind hydrogen-electric technology demonstrator aircraft, and in July, California became the first state to officially launch a Hydrogen Hub, with both developments having a stake in furthering the state’s goal of cutting pollution and expanding clean energy.

Rep. Norma Torres says white powder sent to her SoCal office, staff sheltering in place
In what she termed an "attack" on her district office, Rep. Norma Torres of the Inland Empire says two letters were sent there containing a "white, powdery substance."Torres, D-Ontario, says while there were no injuries or illnesses reported, her staffers at the district office are sheltering in place until the substance can be analyzed."Hazmat teams are on site investigating the substance and my staff are remaining in place until more information is found," Torres wrote on X. Officials battle 'highly aggressive' red imported fire ant infestation in Southern California
Agricultural officials in Southern California are battling an active infestation of red imported fire ants that are "highly aggressive in nature," and pose a risk to California's agricultural economy. The infestation occurred at a private property in Montecito, in Santa Barbara County, according to a recent press release from the Santa Barbara County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. Located over 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Montecito is best known as a celebrity enclave with Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle among the town's residents. Officials did not name the owners of the private property.

A California prison doctor accumulated more than 1,000 hours of personal time off and used some of it to work a second job. He claimed he faced retaliation when officials began scrutinizing his time and then clawed back much of his leave bank.

Friday Night: A round of smoke will continue to work through the Rogue Valley this evening with poor air quality. It'll be a comfortable night temperature-wise, lows in the mid 50s for Northern California and in the Rogue Valley. Coastal low temperatures in the lower 50s. Even cooler for the Basin and into the Cascades lows in the mid to upper 40s. Skies will be clear inland with winds diminishing tonight. The coast will likely see marine layer clouds and fog working back in tonight, especially for Brookings.
