Suburban Development Lawsuit Questions What It Means to Be ‘Distinctly Dublin’
Since January, a suburban legal dispute has hinged in part on an unusual question: What does “distinctly Dublin” mean, if anything?. Stavroff Land & Development raised this point in a lawsuit filed against the city of Dublin in U.S. District Court in Columbus, alleging that an “utterly vague ‘distinctly Dublin’ standard” was used by the city to unjustly thwart Stavroff’s plans to redevelop the Dublin Village Center off Sawmill Road, a claim denied by the city.

That said, it’s understandable why every loss to Michigan, like last year’s 30-24 contest, might stick with Day. It’s natural for a coach to feel a game got decided by a few small things that could have turned the game the other way.

Welcome To Summer In Ohio!
WILMINGTON – It’s an old, old cliche, but one that bears repeating: If you don’t like the weather in Ohio, stick around for 15 minutes. It’s bound to change. The National Weather Service in Wilmington would likely agree as it predicts that several rounds of showers and storms are likely to move across Central Ohio through Friday. Some locally heavy rain and gusty winds will be the primary threats with these storms and repeated rounds of heavy rain may lead to localized flooding.
Proposed law targets retail theft sprees as organized crime
COLUMBUS — Ohio is looking at treating escalating and increasingly violent retail theft sprees as organized crime with a statewide law enforcement task force and stronger criminal penalties. Now in the Senate, a House-passed bill would create the task force to collaborate with the state attorney general's office and the Ohio Organized Crime Commission to assist law enforcement and prosecutors and to share information in real time across jurisdictions. “[Organized retail crime] causes billions of dollars in losses annually,” Rep. Haraz Ghanbari (R., Perrysburg), sponsor of House Bill 366, told his House colleagues. “ORC involves planned large-scale operations targeting retailers across multiple jurisdictions. The National Retail Federation survey shows a 67 percent increase in organized retail crime incidents reported by loss prevention executives.” “ORC disrupts businesses, and it also jeopardizes the safety of consumers and employees,” he said. “Many retailers across Ohio have reduced operating hours or they have closed their stores in some instances due to increased criminal activity. The primary concern in doing so is the escalation of violence associated with these ORC activities.”
