Proud Haven is not what it seems.

Trixie Toots
This is what i wrote one of the newspapers in town, with a history of speaking out for homeless rights. I can't stay silent about this. Homeless LGBTQ+ individuals like i once was die every year in this country. Yet, our "queer shelter" is a hellhole leaving us with significant trauma, as if we needed more. Some things I've heard or seen firsthand about Proud Haven: -the staff being ambivalent to gay/transphobic slurs, then retaliating when people have enough. -bedbugs. -open hard drug use. A friend has his med card; his pipe was stolen and used for meth. -this one is firsthand. I was told to email, call, etc to get a bed. Promised they'd get back to me in an hour. They never did. I suspect it's due to my autism, or walking with a cane. -Central Outreach supposedly pulled funding. They didn't pay their pride performers until a *month* after.
