Justin Stone, chair of the science department at Trotwood-Madison, has been named Regional State Board District 3 Teacher of the Year.

According to ODE, Stone has 17 years of experience, as well as wanting to make a “lasting impact” in the lives of students.

Before the educator began teaching at Trotwood-Madison, he was an allied health instructor at the now-defunct Miami-Jacobs Career College. At Miami-Jacobs, he guided students into careers, such as surgical technology and respiratory therapy.

“Stone’s unwavering commitment extends beyond academic achievement,” ODE said. “He is a champion for equity in urban education and beyond. He actively seeks to dismantle barriers to success for all students, ensuring they have the tools and support needed to thrive.”

While Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in science (biology) from Livingstone College, he is currently working to obtain a degree in diversity and equality from The University
    of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
