A pair of changes are coming to TriMet’s services in East Multnomah County, including an improved bus line for students and a network of late-night buses to operate in lieu of trains.

“Riders can expect new and more convenient transit options that provide fast and reliable connections to opportunities,” the organization said in a statement. “We’re improving service for current riders and bringing new service to areas that have been calling for more.”

As part of the Forward Together Service Concept, Line 25-Glisan/Rockwood will have more buses along the route with longer daily hours. That route runs past both Reynolds High School and Mt. Hood Community College.

A network of buses will also service MAX Blue Line riders in the late night and early morning in place of standard trains.

The switch will allow TriMet to complete more overnight maintenance projects without disrupting service. All rail lines, except the Green Line, will have a matching bus line that follows the same route.

The Line 287-Blue East Bus will connect Downtown Portland and Gresham during those hours.

Both local changes are part of one of TriMet’s largest-ever service updates Sunday, Aug. 25. Other changes include expanding the Red Line into Hillsboro and renaming several MAX stops on the westside.
