    Will James Scholarships honor writer of the old west

    The Will James Society offers two scholarships, one high school girl and one high school boy, each year.

    The scholarship program is designed to benefit students who are planning a career or profession in the agricultural and farming world, horsemanship, veterinary, journalism and art said Will James Society President B.B. Palmer of Troy.

    Past recipients of the Will James Society Scholarships from the local area are, Josh Graham, Olin Russell and Miley Taylor.

    Graham has graduated college and has entered the workplace. Russell is attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Taylor is at Troy University.

    Palmer said the Will James Scholarships are highly regarded and are of great benefit to recipients when they graduate college and begin their careers.

    Palmer said applications for the 2024 Will James Society Scholarship will be accepted through April 15. The scholar recipients may reapply each year.

    To apply for the Will James scholarships, ether a parent or grandparent must be a member of the Will James Society.

    Palmer said there are many benefits of Will James Society membership. The annual membership fee is $35. For more information contact Palmer at bbnita47@yahoo.com.

    The Will James Society honors William Roderick James (June 1892-1942), a Canadian-American artist and writer of the America West.
