March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for men and women.

For this reason, the Women in Blue are all committed to increasing Colon Cancer Awareness and raising money for the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama during the month of March.

“With the support of our community, we can bring greater awareness of colorectal cancer and the importance of early detection because it saves lives,” said Melissa Adams Ingram, who works with the City of Troy Police Department.

She is a member of Women in Blue. Her family has been in Real Estate at David Adams Realty in Pike County for 34 years

Both Melissa and David are supporters of the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama

“Through educational and support programs, The Wellness Foundation seeks to empower those affected by cancer to enhance the quality of their lives, Ingram said.

“It provides one-on-one patient services to every patient with cancer and their families who find themselves in need of assistance with transportation, medication and/or social services and insurance navigation.”

The Women in Blue in the local area are Christina Bennett, Laura Williams, Kathryn Bandy, Melissa Ingram, Macy Cate White, Lydia Taylor, Adrienne Washington, Ronda Cherry, Amy Bierly, Piper Vance, Ashley Morrow, Ashley Johnson, Anna Sevens, Rhea Ingram, Julia Avant, Margen Gadd Menetee, Sheldon Martin, Denise Fontenot Brown, Estee Morrison and Brandy Young.
