Thunder on Three Notch features re-enactments

Sites where history comes alive are among the most visited throughout the country.

Of course, there is nothing to compare with The Alamo and Boston Harbor, However, on May 3 and 4, the Pioneer Museum of Alabama will feature an event that will include everything from campsite cooking to a battle between the settlers and the Creek Indians along the Three Notch Trail.

Barbara Tatom, Pioneer Museum of Alabama director, said, on those two days, pioneer history will come alive.

“Thunder on the Three Notch,” is one of the museum’s most popular events and Tatom said another fun, learning event has been planned.

“We’ll have a variety of living history activities that include everything from weaving on the loom to playing the harp and preaching in the log church to a battle between the Creek Indians and a militia.

The Thunder on the Three Notch event will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is charged: Adults, $10; Senior adults and military, $9; Students, $8; Children ages 5 and under and museum members free.
