There is no cost for the workshop for first responders and community members.

Participants will be exposed to live specimens of the six venomous snake species in Alabama.

The topics required include venomous snake identification, common non-native venomous snakes

Abby Peters, Pike County Extension coordinator, said the workshop will also be beneficial for those who work outdoors and/or just enjoy being outdoors.

Peters said snakes can be almost anywhere so it is important to recognize venomous snakes and to know what to do if bitten.
