The Patti Rutland Jazz 2024 Recital was held Sunday at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University.

Patti Simpson, director, said the afternoon was an amazing and dazzling dance performance by a wonderfully talented group of young dancers.

“I was so excited to see this show that these dancers, teachers and choreographers worked o tirelessly to produce,” Simpson said. “And, dancers always love applause and there was plenty of applause for every dance and every dancer. “
Simpson said the recital was the highlight of a wonderful year for PRJ Arts.

“We began our PRJ Arts and Innovation Outreach Program in all three Pike County elementary school, thanks to a generous grant through the Pike County Board of Education,” Simpson said. “Almost 1,000 children were introduced to the arts.”

Going a step farther, Simpson said 40 students who showed a love for dance were given a scholarship to continue their dance education at our studio in Brundidge through a grant from the Simpson Charitable Trust.

The year 2024 marked Patti Simpson’s 46 th year of seeing children grow within the art that she loves with all her heart.

“Our studio in Brundidge is my heart and the most special place I have known,” Simpson said.

“I have always felt that every child should be allowed the opportunity to grow within the arts and cost should not be an issue. It is our job to nurture the future of the arts and that starts with children.”
