A summer art explosion was has heard on East Walnut Street on Monday morning.

A large group of youngsters was creating magic-bean art, which was found to be the cause of the explosion of colorful dynamic beans of different sizes, shapes and colors.

Andrea Pack, director of the Johnson Center for the Arts, said the Summer Art Explosion is an annual summer occurrence and, once again, young artists, are creating art that explodes with color and ideas that can readily be translated into stories.

Children ages, six to 13 are invited to be a part of the fun/learning Art Explosion. They also participate in adapting their art based on the picture book, “The Cool Bean,” into a performance that includes theater and dance. The program expands into the fascinating world of storytelling, set design and arts.

Slots remain available for the afternoon programs. For more information call 670-2287 or visit the Johnson Center for the Arts in downtown Troy.
