ST. LOUIS — A south St. Louis woman was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to stabbing her neighbor to death in July 2022. Michelle B. Mitchell, 48, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. She fatally stabbed Robin Bonds, 56, in the Chapel View Apartments, located on the 4200 block of Michigan Avenue in the city's Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

Man charged in fatal DUI crash in Madison County, Illinois
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Prosecutors in Madison County, Illinois, have charged a Bethalto man in a fatal DUI crash in May in Hartford. Israel K. Evans, 24, was charged Friday with aggravated DUI resulting in death and reckless homicide in the death of 24-year-old Jacob S.P. Werner, also of Bethalto, Illinois. Prosecutors are asking he be confined pending trial, according to a Madison County State’s Attorney news release.
SIUE Pharmacy Faculty and Staff Receive National Recognition in Teaching Innovation
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy (SOP) was recently awarded with the national Innovation in Teaching Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy for their innovative project, "Making an ‘ImPaCT (Improving Patient Care for Tomorrow)’: A longitudinal, required innovation curriculum to address practice-based problems.” The program is led by Kate Newman, PharmD, Director of Experiential Education and a clinical associate professor with the Department of Pharmacy Practice, a 2010 SIUE alumnae, and 2004 alumnae Tessa Keys. The program was launched by Cindy Wuller, clinical professor and capstone coordinator.

It's been a rough tornado season and a new Illinois law is taking aim at that. We can all agree it's been a messy summer. In the Chicago area alone last week, there were 33 tornadoes, compared to their usual 5 or 6 per year. With the derecho that moved through last week, 5 tornadoes rolled through the QCA. In Iowa, May was ridiculous. We average 11 tornadoes in May. But this year, we had over 80 tornadoes in May alone.
