New Restaurant Opens in the Former District 23 in Cedar Rapids
A Mexican restaurant with a couple of other Iowa locations has expanded into Cedar Rapids! Say hello to La Terraza Mexican Grill & Seafood!. La Terraza Mexican Grill & Seafood held its official grand opening at 2825 6th St SW back on June 14th, just about a week after welcoming customers for the first time. The new restaurant has replaced District 23, which just opened its doors in July of 2023. It closed its doors less than six months later, on Christmas Eve. Prior to that, it was the home of Los Compadres, which is now located on 33rd Ave SW.
Former Iowa City Doctor Pleads Guilty To HIPAA Violation
An emergency room doctor who illegally obtained health information of multiple individuals pleaded guilty last week in federal court. Thirty-year-old Dr. Gabriel Alejandro Hernandez Roman was convicted of one count of wrongfully obtaining individual identifiable health information relating to an individual under false pretenses. Between 2020 and 2023, he worked in the emergency departments of multiple hospitals, including a facility titled “Hospital-1” in Cedar Rapids and another named “Hospital-2” in Iowa City.
