TROY, Pa. ( WETM ) –The Troy fair is underway for its 148th year, and many people come to see the animals.

There are plenty of animals to look at, but pigs seem to be the showstopper. Back by popular demand this year for the eighth year in a row is the Rosaire’s Royal Racers. It’s a family-owned pig racing company based in Florida.

Also, 80 pigs are up for auction at the Youth Livestock Sale. One of the pigs up for auction is 6-month-old Yellowstone brought by the Bradford County 4-H Foreign exchange program.

“This is the first time we’ve done it. We normally do a freezer full of meat which is half a cow, a pig, and some chickens,” said Serenity, one of the program’s members.

The program helps young people get out and see different parts of the world. The proceeds from Yellowstone will be used to help fund the kids’ next trip.

“We get a lot of market hogs here. So, we will most likely get more people to bid on them. Because I think we have 80 or so hogs here. I could be wrong but there are a lot of market hogs and people have bacon in the morning. And you eat bacon in the morning so why not,” added Serenity.

Pigs might not be everyone’s favorite animal, but overtime people have grown to love pigs.

“I’ve never been a huge pig fan, but I think after like doing this for the day pigs are starting to grow on me a little bit. I think it’s nice just to be able to do this because we’re just used to the same fundraiser every year, “said Jenna, another 4-H member.
