CHICAGO (TCN) -- Police are investigating the disappearance of 41-year-old woman who reportedly went missing while attending a yoga retreat in the Bahamas. In a June 21 news release, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said Taylor Casey was last seen on Wednesday, June 19, in the area of Paradise Island. According to family members, Casey had been practicing yoga for 15 years and was in the Bahamas for the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat.

Former S.D. mayor accused of killing 3 people pleads not guilty by reason of insanity
CENTERVILLE, S.D. (TCN) -- A 64-year-old man charged with allegedly killing three people last month pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of murder and other charges. Jay Ostrem was indicted in May on three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of second-degree murder, and three counts of first-degree murder while in the commission of a burglary in connection with the deaths of Paul Frankus, Zachary Frankus, and Timothy Richmond. On June 21, the South Dakota Attorney General's Office announced Ostrem entered a plea of not guilty, not guilty by reason of insanity, and not guilty but mentally ill.

MELBOURNE, Fla. (TCN) -- A 25-year-old man is in custody after allegedly fatally striking his 6-week-old baby against his knee. According to an arrest affidavit, on June 10 at approximately 11:11 a.m., officers with the Melbourne Police Department and emergency personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive infant. The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

According to KSAZ-TV, on June 17, three minors ran to a neighbor's home on Indian School Road and said their aunt, Sarah Canez, abused and threatened to kill them. One of the victims, a 16-year-old girl, was reportedly screaming and saying she needed help. The neighbor called Phoenix Police, and officers arrived at the scene.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (TCN) -- A 27-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of killing his ex-girlfriend's teen daughter and injuring her son last week. According to the Birmingham Police Department, on June 19 shortly after 12 p.m., officers responded to the Park Place apartments, where they found a 15-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy with apparent gunshot wounds. Fire personnel pronounced the girl, later identified by officers as Cornelia Lathan, deceased. The boy was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the West Haven Police Department, on Saturday, June 22, at approximately 2:30 a.m., an officer noticed a Nissan SUV parked on the beach. The officer made his way to the car, and as he got closer to the "commotion," he "heard significant screaming taking place from the water." The police officer reportedly got in the water, but the male moved farther away with the children and told him to "stay back."

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (TCN) -- A 33-year-old man faces up to 60 years in prison for trying to fatally shoot his fiancée in a suspected failed murder-suicide. Missouri woman accused of killing husband after he allegedly told her 'shoot me'
KEARNEY, Mo. (TCN) -- A 48-year-old woman is in custody on suspicion of fatally shooting her husband in their home before allegedly calling 911 and admitting to the crime. According to a probable cause statement, on June 18, Melissa Hoffner-Allen was on the phone with Clay County Dispatch and said she shot her husband in the chest. Clay County Sheriff's Office deputies subsequently responded to her home on Kountry Ridge Drive and found the victim, 50-year-old Ricky Allen, deceased at the scene with a gunshot wound.

HOUSTON (TCN) -- Two men are in custody on suspicion of killing a young girl at a bridge and leaving her remains near a creek where she was later found. In a press conference held earlier this week, Houston Police Lt. Stephen Hope said an individual called 911 on the morning of Monday, June 17, after finding a body in shallow water near Rankin Road. Officers responded to the scene and found a 12-year-old girl, later identified by police as Jocelyn Nungaray, deceased. The Harris County Institute of Forensics Sciences listed her cause of death as strangulation.
Former Las Vegas Police detective found guilty of killing her daughter’s ex-husband
LAS VEGAS (TCN) -- A former Las Vegas Metro Police Department officer was convicted this week of killing her ex-son-in-law during a custodial visit in 2019. The 8th Judicial District Court announced on X that a jury found Pamela Bordeaux guilty of murder with the use of a deadly weapon in connection with the death of Sean Babbit. She will be sentenced Aug. 20.
