Mass Shooting at Colorado Nightclub Leaves 5 dead and 25 injured

According to CNN, a gay nightclub massacre has left 5 dead and 25 injured in Colorado.

On Saturday, 911 began to receive phone calls that a mass shooting had occurred in a Colorado Springs gay nightclub on North Academy Boulevard.

According to authorities, the gunman opened fire at Club Q in Colorado Springs just before midnight. However, they weren’t able to give a motive for the gunman.

According to the club’s website, clubbers were attending Club Q’s “Diva Drag Show” when this attack happened.

The club released a statement on its Facebook stating, “Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community. Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.” Club Q is calling this a hate crime against the LGBTQ.

The FBI and local authorities are currently on the scene investigating this tragedy. Ambulances in large numbers filled the scene to transport the wounded and deceased.

The suspect was captured and injured and is currently in custody.

According to a police official, “They did locate one individual who we believe to be the suspect inside. At this point in time, the suspect is being treated, but is in custody.”

This recent massacre would be totaling the counted mass shootings this year to almost 600. This act of violence wouldn’t be anything new for American citizens to witness. In 2016, 49 people were killed and 53 wounded at the gay nightclub, Pulse, in Orlando.

The police department is expected to have a press conference today to give more details.
