    Update: Family Speaks at Candlelight Vigil for 19-Year-Old Shot by Officers in Thomasville with Balloon Release

    Thomasville, GA., 08/09/23 - A candlelight vigil was held in honor of the 19-year-old Alfred "Tez" Cole who was shot and killed by law enforcement in Thomasville. Family and friends of Alfred Cole spoke before releasing balloons in his honor.

    The Thomas County Drug Squad was responding to a call when they got an alert about a car driving erratically that led to a brief chase. According to the GBI, Cole allegedly got out of the car with a handgun and the officers fired shots resulting in killing him in the Cassidy Rd and Meadows St. area.

    As the GBI continues to investigate, the family along with concerned citizens are asking for the body cam footage to bring closure to their loss and bring more clarity about what happened during this tragic event.

    Flyers were sent around social media to bring more awareness around the tragedy as well as to address gun violence and strengthen community and law enforcement relations. Many community providers stand in support and are at a loss for words that this incident happened in Thomasville.

    So he pulls a gun on law enforcement & is shot. Now you want a candle light vigil.. Sit down he done it & no he lost his life. Quit making criminals the victims !!
