Former President Donald Trump is dropped from Colorado state ballot for the 2024 presidential election after an appeal court rules his actions in 2021 attack on Capitol makes him ineligible.

The former president has been excluded from the state's Republican primary ballot after a lengthy ruling that reversed a Denver district judge findings that the 14th Amendment Section 3 - disqualifies those who have engaged in insurrection against the U.S. Constitution after taking oath and holding office.

"A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot," the court wrote.

Spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, condemned the ruling and called the Colorado ruling "undemocratic" and that an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court was forthcoming.

Section 3 of the Civil War-era 14th Amendment says: “No person shall ... hold any office, civil or military, under the United States ... who, having previously taken an oath ... as an officer of the United States, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

Trump says "it's nonsense" and "election interference."
