7 Arizona defendants charged in health care fraud scheme as part of nationwide DOJ crackdown
PHOENIX — Seven Arizona defendants have been charged with taking part in various health care fraud schemes, authorities announced last week. The defendants allegedly tried to defraud Medicare and Medicaid providers out of hundreds of millions of dollars, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

The Arizona Wildcats placed five players on the All-Big 12 preseason football teams revealed by their new conference on Tuesday. Receiver Tetairoa McMillan was one of four wideouts on the list compiled by media members who cover the league. A 64-lot residential subdivision south of Naranja Drive was given final approval by the Oro Valley Town Council at its June 19 meeting. Naranja Trails would be located about a quarter-mile west of First Avenue, immediately west of the Pusch Ridge Vistas subdivision, and north of the long-established Highlands Mobile Home Park, Oro Valley’s lone mobile home park.
The year half over; the glass half full
Just like that, the sports year is half over. It’s been about half-good. There have been some bright spots, but they dim when viewed in terms of what might have been. The UA baseball team shook off some early-season doldrums and stormed to the (final) Pac-12 regular-season title. Then, in dramatic fashion, they added the Pac-12 Tournament title. With all that momentum on their side, they got to host the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Playing in from of a huge Hi Corbett home crowd, they proceeded to lose to (ugh!) ‘Former incel’ who threatened to carry out UA mass shooting gets 16 months in prison
A man who in October threatened to commit a mass shooting at the University of Arizona was sentenced to 16 months in prison, authorities announced Tuesday. Michael Pengchung Lee, 27, pleaded guilty in April to making interstate threats after he posted in a Snapchat group chat on Oct. 23, 2023, that he sought revenge on "all the chads and stacies" — terms commonly used to refer to men and women by self-described involuntary celibate people, or "incels." The FBI in October described Lee as a “former incel.”
