Town of Patagonia’s 2024 Primary Election
The Town of Patagonia’s Election Director, Isabel Van Nest is busy gearing up for the 2024 Primary Election. This year the Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, July 30 from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at 310 McKeown Ave. You can request an early ballot in writing during Town Hall hours Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On this year’s ballot are four candidates running for three council member positions: Ronald Reibslager, Gary Retherford, Michael Stabile and Anita Francesca Claverie. A candidate must receive 51% of votes cast to be immediately elected. Votes cast are the total number of people who voted. Candidates with less than 51% votes cast will have a run-off on November 5th in the general election. Thank you, Patagonia, for coming out and voting.

Two men hurt, four family pets killed in Tucson house fire
TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Fire Department said an early morning house fire sent two men to the hospital and killed four family pets. “It started at the truck. That’s where the majority of the flames were, and then from the truck, it just went to the cars, to the house,” said Dylan Cargen, a neighbor who saved Bill Joseph Brooks and his father Bill Brooks from the fire.

Arizona baseball roster avoids significant losses from NCAA transfer portal
College baseball’s NCAA transfer portal has closed, with a few exceptions, and Arizona managed to escape the sport’s free agency window relatively unscathed. The Wildcats saw nine players from the 2024 roster enter the portal, six hitters and three pitchers, but combined that group only accounted for 104 at-bats and 31.2 innings pitched. At the same time, the UA has added four players from the portal, each of whom look like they could be significant contributors next season as the program moves to the Big 12 Conference.
