2024 Arizona football season countdown: 34 days to kickoff
A LOOK BACK — NO. 34 LAMONT LOVETT. With it being the 34th day until kickoff between the Lobos and Wildcats, the best player to wear No. 34 for Arizona is running back Lamont Lovett, who played for the Wildcats from 1990-93. He was a member of the 1993 team that went 10-2 with a Fiesta Bowl win over Miami. He was a solid contributor who is now the analyst for Arizona’s radio broadcasts on KCUB 1290-AM, working alongside the Voice of the Wildcats, Brian Jeffries. He also is a life insurance agent for Crest Insurance Group. Lovett’s brother Lamar, who also played with the Wildcats as a standout receiver, is a longtime assistant coach at Pusch Ridge.
Some UA sports could see huge increase in scholarships under NCAA settlement
Arizona could see its total number of scholarship athletes almost double under the terms of a landmark NCAA settlement that will also bring revenue sharing to college sports. A trio of antitrust lawsuits, which will result in almost $2.8 billion in damages paid to former student-athletes, includes provisions that establish roster caps for each sport and allows for every spot to be under a full scholarship beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. Currently, some sports feature only a small portion of players getting scholarships, and in many cases only partial assistance.

PHOENIX - Phoenix Fire confirmed the death of 22-year-old Oswaldo Montoya, the worker who was buried under a building that collapsed in a monsoon storm on July 24.
