YWCA Richmond receives $1.6M in Community Project Funding for domestic violence services
Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan presented YWCA Richmond yesterday with a $1,666,279 check to support the organization’s services for domestic violence survivors. The Community Project Funding is provided by the federal government and will support the Transforming Lives After Surviving Domestic Violence Project to build at least 40 new residential units and provide 24/7 innovative programming and services for survivors of domestic violence in the Richmond area.

E. Coli Levels High in the James and VDH Issue Recreational Water Advisory
Testing of the James River from several points across Richmond shows significantly high levels of E. coli. According to James River Watch, testing conducted on Thursday, July 11, showed 817 colony forming units (CFU) per 100 ml of water at West 42nd Street, 1,204 CFU per 100 ml at Belle Isle and 1,987 CFU per 100 ml at Mayo Island.

Pink Room Closed Due to Zoning Issue
The Pink Room is a newish cocktail bar that has been getting a ton of press lately. In the same building as Metzgers owned and operated by Brittanny Anderson who happens to be the chef and owner of Pink Room, Metzgers, Brenner Pass, and Black Lodge. Unfortunately the building’s zoning was split in half with commercial on one side and residential on the other. As a result the Pink Room has to close while they figure out how to get this changed.
