A 49-year-old woman from Douglas was recently arrested for allegedly submitting a life insurance policy for her ex-husband without his knowledge. According to a Coffee County Sheriff’s Office incident report, detectives met with a man on May 7 at the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center concerning a reported case of insurance fraud.

What was supposed to be a relaxing trip for two pals and their fishing guide turned into a rescue mission when a stray pack of dogs wandered about a mile away from the shore of Grenada Lake in Mississippi.

Thank goodness, the pups were able to tread water long enough — some of them for about an hour — that the fishermen could rescue all 38 of them on separate haul trips with their modest-sized boat, as initially reported by Fox News (via New York Post).

A 24-foot shark washed up on a United Kingdom beach over the weekend and a forklift was needed to haul the massive beast off the shore, wild photos show. 

The carcass of a basking shark — the second-largest living fish in the sea — was seen swaying up and down in the waters off Maidens Beach in Scotland on Sunday. 

Onlookers initially believed they spotted a whale until animal research and rescue groups responded and identified the animal.

About 80 people overtook Aurora’s City Council meeting Monday, causing the mayor to recess the meeting three times in an effort to bring about order. The council then agreed to extend public invited to be heard beyond the one-hour time limit. The speakers showed up to chide the City Council for not punishing the officer that shot and killed Kilyn Lewis. Lewis was a suspect in a crime which is why police approached him. Body camera footage released by the Aurora Police Department showed Lewis did not have a gun and repeatedly yelled “I don’t have nothing!” with his hands in the air. Despite this, officer Michael Dieck killed him with a single shot from his rifle. Lewis never had more than a cell phone in his hand, the video showed.
