This is not a drill. You don't have to ask your partner to pinch you.

Plans to build a Chick-fil-A fast food restaurant in Tulare at Cartmill and 99 have been filed with the city.

The site, at the southeast corner of Highway 99 and Cartmill Avenue, is near the proposed Maverick's fueling station and convenience store. The restaurant will be just down the street from the Tulare Outlet Center.

Building permits for the Mavericks have been issued by the city, says planner Steve Sopp but the Chick-fil A -plans are "early on" in the process, he says. The new fast food Chick-fil-A would be near the fueling station.

The matter will be taken up at a Site Plan Review hearing set for Wednesday, July 24.

According to the plan filed with the city the new restaurant would be 5,500 square-feet with a double drive-thru. The business would employ 50 to 75. It's the first Chick-fil- A in Tulare County. There are two in Fresno.

The location of the two developments is the first at the rebuilt Cartmill and 99 interchange, long expected to become the premier retail hub in the city and county. The Chick-fil-A site is visible from northbound 99.

Chick fil-A, based in Georgia, has over 3,000 locations. Another plan was filed with the city of Visalia without naming the restaurant on south Mooney adjacent to a big box store believed to be Sam's Club.

The popularity of the restaurant has resulted in a large fan club in Visalia that has lobbied for a Chick-fil-A restaurant location on social media here for several years.

Chick-fil-A calls its specialty the "original chicken sandwich". It is a piece of deep-fried breaded boneless chicken breast served on a toasted bun with two slices of dill pickle, or with lettuce, tomato, and cheese.

Many of the company's values are influenced by the Christian religious beliefs of its late founder, S. Truett Cathy (1921–2014), a devout Southern Baptist. Reflecting their beliefs, all Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed for business on Sunday.

Chick-fil-A is a favorite of many, including their friendly cow mascots who want you to "eat mor chikin'." The restaurant offers a variety of chicken-centric dishes, including nuggets and salads, but their classic chicken sandwich has been the most-ordered menu item at Chick-fil-A for at least two years running.

It's America's third most loved fast food joint behind KFC and Del Taco, which rounded out the top three respectively in the 2024 USA Today survey of the 10 best fast food restaurants in the United States .
