Project restores flow to 10 miles of Friant-Kern Canal
Phase one of the Friant-Kern Canal Middle Reach Capacity Correction Project wrapped up this spring, providing relief to a portion of the canal in Tulare County. Construction crew members, state and local water officials and Valley politicians came together for a celebration of this milestone on June 21 at the site of the project’s origin along the canal, just south of Avenue 136 and a few miles west of Porterville.

State of Local Government luncheon returns this summer
On Aug. 21 at the Hyde at 3200 W. Mineral King Ave. in Visalia, the County of Tulare and the City of Visalia will unite for the State of Local Government luncheon. The Visalia Chamber of Commerce will host the event. Supervisor Larry Micari of District 1, Supervisor Amy Shuklian of District 3, Mayor Brian Poochigian of District 3 and Vice Mayor Brett Taylor of District 2 will attend the luncheon.
Hot Dog Festival sizzles up in Three Rivers
Throughout the day, hot dog lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy regular hot dogs, polish dogs, veggie dogs, corn on the cob and root beer floats served by an A&W Float Mobile. The food at the festival will be cooked by Sequoia and Kings National Park Superintendent Clay Jordan, Tulare County Supervisor Eddie Valero, Tulare County Fire Chief Charlie Norman and first responders from all departments.
